Upholstery Tools
Upholstery is the work requires perfection and neatness. While performing upholstery task it is necessary to have correct tools. This work requires good professional upholstery tools. Upholstery is work which provides seats, furniture, springs, padding, webbing etc.
Various upholstery tools which are required for perfect work are chalk, goggles, needle guard, sewing machine, staple gun, rubber mallet, staple knocker, upholstery hammer, upholstery needle, webbing stretch, upholstery regulator, tack hammer, curve needles, straight needle, upholstery tack, foam cutter, air stapler, foam cutter, webbing pliers, claw tool, needle nose pliers, scissor, screwdrivers and hand sewing needles.
Tack hammer is one of the most needed upholstery tool. It is usually made up of bronze. It has two ends, one end is magnetic and used for placing where as other end is faced used for hammering tacks. Webbing stretcher is used for tightening stretches and setting webbing to prepare it for tacking. This stretcher is used while working close to the frame it provides great efficiency while pulling fabrics. Curved upholstery needles are used to hand sews deck, seats, pillows, cushion and many more things. Straight needle is also very useful and used where curve needle can’t cater the requirement. Staple lifter or tack puller look very much similar to screw driver, it comes with clawed foot. It has got the correct angle on its foot to remove staples without ruining the under surface. Upholstery tool called tacks are small nail like tacks which with large decorative head. Some tack also come plain used in attaching webbing for temporary work set up. Decorative and strong tacks are used in final tacking.
Another important upholstery tool is good pair of shear; it needs to be heavy duty for handling thick fabrics like denim and corduroy. Upholstery regulator is used for stuffing in small places like curves and corners. Marking chalk is the same chalk which is used by tailors; proper marking can be done by this without leaving permanent mark. Webbing pliers provide good grip at the end of material with extra wide lips instead of pins. Air staples are used to give different sized staple and size of staple is depending on the fabric used. Foam cutter is one of most important and expensive upholstery tool. It is basically hand held electric saw used to cut large piece of foam which can be used in various products.
Upholstery work can be done perfectly with special upholstery tools. They look very much like regular tools but have some special feature which makes them suitable for upholstery work.
